President Donald Trump said Friday that he is “considering” authorizing a limited U.S. military strike on Iran as part of an effort to pressure its leaders into reaching a deal over the country’s nuclear program.
“I guess I can say, I am considering that,” Trump said during a breakfast with governors at the White House.
The president indicated that time for diplomacy may be running short. On Thursday, Trump suggested Iran has no more than “10, 15 days, pretty much maximum” to reach an agreement.
“We’re either going to get a deal, or it’s going to be unfortunate for them,” he said.
Trump’s comments come as the United States increases its military presence in the Middle East. The Pentagon has deployed the USS Gerald R. Ford and its strike group to the region. The USS Abraham Lincoln and three guided-missile destroyers arrived in the Middle East more than two weeks ago.
The potential for U.S. military action drew criticism from former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who argued that Americans do not support a new conflict with Iran.
“Americans do not want to go to war with Iran!!!” Greene wrote in a post on X.
“They want to be able to afford their lives and get ahead. They want to be happy and enjoy life. They want their government to put elite pedos in jail. And they voted for NO MORE FOREIGN WARS AND NO MORE REGIME CHANGE,” she added.
Greene, once a staunch supporter of Trump, had a falling out with the president last year and left office early last month during her House term.
The White House has not announced a final decision on military action.

No new wars and to afford to live our lives and get ahead?
How do you do that when another country threatens to cut off oil, rocket our bases in that area, calls for our destruction, and all of the etcs. that go with that!
These hopes are good thoughts, but the ‘other guy’ has a say in this too. Iran has supplied many terrorists with munitions with which to kill people all over the world!
They have killed many Americans, and our friends, the Israelis!
Green, do you really believe that allowing them to continue doing this is the best policy for the U.S.?
Do we allow them to get stronger and stronger so as to have the ability to cause much damage to us?
If we had put a stop to Hitler’s regime when we should have, there would have been no WWII.
Before speaking about things you know little about, think this over ( I wish that you actually would be able to read this, but I doubt that you ever will even know that it has been ‘written’ )!
