Ford Motor Company Slashes Jobs in Name of Progress

-

The future is unemployment…

Years ago, critics of automotive electrification said the end result would be mass layoffs in the auto industry. While we haven't quite reached that cataclysmic event, we're getting just one step closer as Ford announces it will be axing 3,000 positions to free up resources for electric car development. That's right, your future EV is putting thousands of American families in a financial bind.

If you're thinking this is old news, that's because back in July Ford said it would slash 8,000 jobs to free up resources for EV development. So in two months' time, the Blue Oval has decided to give the pink slip to 11,000 hard-working Americans so it can put an electric car in every driveway at a premium price.

Don't forget that Ford jacked up the price of the F-150 Lightning conveniently at the same time Congress passed that inflation-fighting bill which includes tax credits for buying certain EVs. It's a nice way to get you to pay the same price while Ford still pockets a few thousand taxpayer dollars per truck sold and lays off thousands of people without batting an eye.

To be fair, this 3,000 job slashing isn't taking place just in the . Ford says it entails mostly North America and India. Does that make it any better?

All this comes after Jim Farley, Ford's CEO, has been saying over and over there are too many people working for the company. He also has said not enough employees have the proper skills to bring the automaker into the future. Translation: learn to code.

“We are eliminating work, as well as reorganizing and simplifying functions throughout the business. You will hear more specifics from the leaders of your area of the business later this week,” Farley and Ford Chairman Bill Ford wrote in a joint email to Reuters. See? They really care about all the people losing their livelihood.

Be prepared for other automakers to start slashing thousands of jobs as well. After all, EVs have fewer parts and so they don't need as many assembly line workers. Even white-collar workers who can't get with the program will be kicked to the curb. It's a brave new world.

  1. Go for it Ford. Your company will close down because no one is buying electric cars. Your stupidity and greed will be the end of you. Electric cars pollute more, cost way too much and can’t afford the battery replacement. Stupidity runs in the top Ford company. How much money are you getting from the governor and joe Biden to destroy your own business? Will never buy a car that has to charge and destroy the power grid because of greed and stupidity. Taking hours to charge and not going very far until the next charge, charging cost more than gas. Your charging station are run on gas. Lie some more to the people, your just a bunch of rich elite nazis who really don’t care about the workers. Unions are just has bad. Top Union officials are corrupt and greedy too.

    • Hit the old ball out of the park with that. More people need to know what the hell is going on. All these EV plastic and tubing cars will be very expensive couches in the front yard when the greenies get their way. Solar, wind and bio-mas and NukesXXX “bad”, doesn’t meet the demand, Poor horses will be replacing local runs. Their is an up side there will be opening for street cleaners to pick up horse apples.

  2. Boycott Ford ,l was thinking about buying a New Car but not from FORD .They changed my mind so FORD take your cars and shove it were the sun don’t shine.

  3. Ford needs to stop and think about what they are doing. Before things get get so bad after they build nothing but battery powered cars. And they go out of business.

  4. I don’t understand why the Auto Workers union is not outraged by this and why they are not taking a strong proactive stand against this.

  5. have enjoyed my hybrid cars for years–good gas mileage and a proper bridge to building out infrastructure to better technologies down the road. gas is still cheap compared to the alternatives, a hell of a lot more efficient, reliable and gives one the freedom to come/go whenever/wherever and how far you please. any new notions that don’t strike that balance are epic fails and d.o.a.

  6. The push toward electric vehicles has an important lesson to learn from an Aesop’s fable: Before you launch off the diving board, make sure there is sufficient water in the pool! Like how hard can this be?

  7. It really disturbs me that anyone would take this woke stuff seriously. Personally, I think it’s a gag that too many people have not ‘woken’ up to It’s too stupid for attention. Come on people, we are being laughed at. Get a spine and put them back in their corner.
