“I've made no decision except one: The person I will nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character, experience and integrity. And that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court,” Biden said. “It's long overdue, in my view.”
Biden also said Vice President Harris will advise him in the selection process.
Like Biden, Republicans offered their thanks to Justice Breyer for his many years of service. However, starting with the Senate Judiciary's top Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, they made sure to let their expectations on his replacement be known:

As were liberals.
Ahead of the midterms, I look forward to watching every Republican Senator oppose the first black woman to the Supreme Court.

One Senate Democrat admitted on national television yesterday that she wants Biden to nominate someone who won't base their decisions solely on law.

Maybe he’ll get rid of kamala by nominating her.
If this is an attempt at saving face with the American voter it’s fruitless since people are more concerned with their own personal lives and wellbeing than a political life.
when you have lived a long as i have 85+ years you have heard so much from other with so much dislike of a certain characteristic in any nominated or voted for position, in this USA, there was the outcry about women having any rights then the outcry about blacks being equal rights, then there was the thing about a President being a Catholic, then women on the high courts and against women serving in the military, and against gays and Trans, which is still going on and the hate against the true history of the USA being taught in schools , mainly because it will make the conservative and religious look like the true hypocrites they are.
