-

isn't giving up.

One day after a federal judge rejected the former president's requests to stop the House 's request for records leading up to the attack on the U.S. Capitol, Trump is back—asking an appeals court to prevent the documents from going to .

The emergency appeal comes little more than one day before the records are set to be released from the National Archives.

Trump, who never conceded the 2020 election to President Joe Biden and is hinting he will run for president again in 2024, was impeached in the House for inciting an insurrection and acquitted in the Senate. The invasion of the Capitol by a mob of hundreds of Trump's supporters forced members of Congress to flee their chambers during a joint session, temporarily derailing efforts to confirm Biden's Electoral College victory.

U.S. Archivist David Ferriero is scheduled to start producing the disputed documents by Friday at 6 p.m. ET, Trump's lawyer told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The lawyer, Jesse Binnall, is asking the D.C. Circuit to block the records from being released while the court considers another injunction on a fast-track basis.

The appeal comes after U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected the arguments put forth by Binnall.

The judge in a 39-page opinion wrote that Trump's view “appears to be premised on the notion that his executive power ‘exists in perpetuity' … But president are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.”

  1. Former President Trump’s information could be released right about the time that we got all of Barach Obama’s personal history, birth record, College information and records, etc. It is way
past time for the American people to see that. B.O. is probably thinking he will run in 2024.
“Help, Help Me, Rhonda” as the song goes.

  2. Barack Obama won’t run. The Constitution says a president can only be elected twice for a total of eight years. As psychologically damaged and morally bad as I think Trump is as a human being (I honestly agree with some of his policies), I fear that the best candidates the Democrats can muster only have about a fifty-fifty shot at winning. Arguably less so for Joe Biden and way less so for Kamala Harris. They’re too far to the left on almost every major issue, and the economy is in the toilet.

But Election Day is a long way off…
