The White House has asked governors to provide troops from their state’s national guard for Tuesday’s State of the Union address.
One governor is flatly refusing the administration’s request.
In a Tweet this afternoon, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of complying.
Roughly 700 guardsmen have deployed to our nation’s capital. There is rampant speculation that their activation isn’t only for Biden’s address, but to confront a trucker convoy expected to arrive at the same time.

Four hundred of the guardsmen are local D.C. troops, which have been activated as part of a request from the D.C. Emergency Management Agency to provide traffic control and enhanced security in anticipation of the protests surrounding President Joe Biden’s speech.
The other 300 Guard personnel are from outside D.C. and have also been approved upon requests from U.S. Capitol Police. Such personnel include approximately 100 Vermont Army National Guard Soldiers, 100 New Jersey National Guard troops and about 80 West Virginia National Guard members who will support security operations within Washington starting later this week.

In addition to the National Guard presence, the temporary fencing that surrounded the Capitol after the January 6th riot is set to be put back into place ahead of Biden’s address.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also initially planned to cap attendance due to continued COVID-19 precautions, but later reports stated that all members of Congress would be permitted to attend. No guest tickets were issued for the address, and initial guidelines stated that all attendees would be required to show proof of a negative PCR test and wear either an N95 or KN95 medical mask throughout — but on Monday, just one day prior to the scheduled event, the Capitol physician announced a move to a mask-optional policy.

Good, good for the Gov. Ron Desantis to tell Biden & crumbs no no we are not supplying you any troops to the capital for Dems foolish fear of honorable truckers comeing to US capitol. I really hope other govs. tell Biden & bunch go jump in a lake.
I agree with Ron DeSantis rejection of these troops for Pres. Biden’s speech. In the meantime, we have the bravest man in the world, Zelensky standing tall and our politicians standing small. Ukraine has women taking up arms and our men are afraid of being called names, on both sides of the fence. American men have had their spines slowly removed and are not much better than jellyfish. What does it take to get our government to save the Ukranian people? A poll that is favorable to that? Endless hours of prognosticating and analyzing and no action from us, while a totalitarian dictator starts to move across Europe. We have the means to stop this, we have the military, we have a nuclear deterrent force, we have all the means necessary, the American taxpayer paid for that. What we don’t have are leaders that are of the same caliber as Zelensky. When you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything. And if any of you out there have a conscience left, how are you going to sleep at night knowing that you sat idly by when a sovereign nation was attacked by a thug. Stop it, stop it, stop it, let the politicians know how you feel, that’s the only way they move, when political pressure is applied. Or maybe one day you will be conscripted to go stop that thug when he should have been stopped when this began. God bless the Ukraine, it’s men and women fighters and it’s hero President, if you need role models for your sons and daughters to emulate, Ukraine is giving them to you in abundance, maybe it’s time for you to emulate them as well.
Bill, we should not get involved because we don’t know how to wage war to win. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Seventy years of failure. We don’t know how to help. We don’t help in the long run, so why waste lives and energy on something we can’t improve. We can’t keep our own boarder safe, we can’t keep our own cities safe, why would we think we can help others.
If we the citizens of this country don’t step up to the plate then America dream of freedom of choice will go down, anyone who want to cower they are cowards on worthy time of day.
